Assistant Plant Manager, 2nd shift
Job Duties and Information:
- Directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
- Coordinates production activities with purchasing, maintenance and quality control to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
- Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
- Revises production schedules and priorities to compensate for equipment failure, personnel absences or other operating problems.
- Reviews and analyzes production, maintenance, operational and quality control reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
- Develops plans for the efficient use of materials, machines and employees.
- Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develops budget and cost controls and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications and delivery dates of products ordered.
- Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
- Travels to other locations on a regular monthly basis.
- Conducts fact finding investigations, together with the Human Resources Manager to aid in the resolution of employee issues.
- Interprets Company policies applying to employees and enforces safety regulations.
- Initiates plans to motivate and train supervisors & line employees.
- Provides budgetary recommendations to management on a timely basis.
- Manages six to eight subordinate group leaders who lead a total of 65 to 85 employees in the Kitchen/Mogul, Engrossing/Finishing/Chocolate, Packaging, and Janitorial Departments. Is responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Provides overall direction and management presence for the balance of the second shift employees.
Education/Skills/Experience required:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
